FHS Scholarship Award – Natalee Rice

The Fayetteville High School Scholarship has been awarded for generations. The FHS Alumni Association collects donations year round and hosts an annual reunion event to support the scholarship funds. This year the Fayette County Community Foundation has partnered with the FHS Alumni Association to manage the scholarship.

Congratulations to Natalee Rice for the 2026 FHS Scholarship Award!

Natalee shares her perspective on growing up in Fayetteville, WV, “Growing up in Fayetteville has taught me many valuable lessons in the importance of perseverance, respect, kindness, and working together to improve our community. I feel that Fayetteville has given me the opportunity to develop close bonds with others in such a small town, and also learn about the beauty of where we live. As our town became a National Park, I have also learned to be welcoming to those who come to see the beauty of our state, while also respecting them and their cultures as well.”

Natalee plans to use her education to care for others in the community. She plans to attend the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine, after obtaining a Bachelors degree at WVU Tech, to become a rural family health physician. “I want to help those in our community by making them feel heard, respected, and important, while also nursing them into better health. Due to the lack of family physicians in our community, I believe my contributions may help to shorten the gap and provide citizens with the best healthcare possible,” states Natalee.
