It really does take all of us helping here and there to make our community a better place. Here are a list of ways that you can get involved in the community and put your stamp on it.
Fayette Co. Christmas Toy Fund
The Canyon Rim Rotary Club leads the effort of this community supported program to distribute toys in Fayette County to families in need of assistance for Christmas.
Details:
During the week leading up to event (typically 2 weeks before Christmas), CRRC needs volunteers at Lewis Community Center to unload, organize, pack, and distribute toys to families in the area. Dates, times, and contact information are on our Facebook page.
Fayetteville CVB
The Fayetteville CVB hosts a variety of events throughout the year and needs periodic volunteers to make the magic happen. Volunteers do not need to live in Fayetteville, but they do need to like a little fun!
Details:
Polar Swim – January 1 – Sign in and swiftwater rescue volunteers
Wizard Weekend – January – activities and decorators
First Fridays – May – October – vendor assistance, kids activities
Fayetteville Heritage Festival – July 3-4th – Event helpers, cake makers
Bridge Day Chili Cook-off – third Saturday in October – tickets, judging, runners.
Witches Paddle – late October – Swiftwater rescue and paddlers
Gingerbread Festival – early December – activities and decorators
Active SWV
Active Southern West Virginia is a non-profit providing an ecosystem of physical activity for the residents of southern West Virginia, by offering programs led by trained volunteers from within the communities they serve.

Become a Community Captain.
Volunteer at Signature Race Events.
Volunteer as a Kids Run Club Coach.
Volunteer Space as a Venue Partner.
Fayette Co. Outdoor Adventure Club
Join the Adventure Club as a volunteer to help our county’s 9-12th graders experience all that the New River area has to offer.
Details:
Chaperoning outdoor adventures for high school kids. We go rafting, mountain, biking, zip lining, snowboard/skiing and more!
Someone with a current background check or working in the school system is preferred.
Fayette County Historical Society
If you like history, this is your chance to share a little lore. Volunteer with the Historical Society to help preserve the past for the future.
Details:
Volunteers could lead tours and give talks, help with the upkeep of the Contentment House in Ansted, and form the direction of the Historical Society for the future through quarterly meetings.
Fayette County Chamber –
Bridge Day
Bridge Day is hosted by the Fayette County Chamber and relies on community volunteers to run smoothly.
Details
The Chamber is always looking for volunteers to help the day of Bridge Day for set-up and tear-down, working the retail booth, and secret shopping our vendors.
New River Animal Rescue
The NRAR is a group that is dedicated to serving the needs of community members and animals.
Details
We are always looking for fosters for the dogs and cats that come to our rescue.
Canyon Rim Rotary Club
Taste of Bridge Day
The CRRC collaborates with local leaders and organizations who want hands on projects that improve our community. They also operate Taste of Bridge Day on the eve of Bridge Day each year.
Details
We need volunteers for Taste of Bridge Day every 3rd Friday of October. We can use people for parking, ticket booth, set-up, vendor check-in, clean up, tear down, food runners for judging.
Fayette Trail Coalition
The Fayette Trail Coalition advocates for outdoor recreation, education and access throughout Fayette County by providing expertise in sustainable trail design.
Details
The FTC hosts a variety of trail building events throughout the year and depends on volunteers like you to participate.
