What is the Fayette County Community Foundation?

The Fayette County Community Foundation (FCCF) is a nonprofit organization that works to connect people, organizations, and resources to strengthen Fayette County. We encourage local giving, support community initiatives, help connect volunteers with opportunities, and provide charitable tools that help community projects move forward.

Do you provide grants?

Not yet. While many community foundations eventually develop grantmaking programs, FCCF is currently focused on building partnerships, supporting charitable projects, serving as a fiscal agent when appropriate, encouraging local philanthropy, and connecting people with opportunities to make a difference.

What community do you serve?

FCCF serves Fayette County, West Virginia and supports projects, organizations, and initiatives that benefit Fayette County residents.

How can FCCF help my organization?

Depending on the project, FCCF may be able to help through fiscal agency services, charitable fund administration, fundraising support, volunteer promotion, connections to potential partners, and other community resources.

What is a fiscal agent?

A fiscal agent helps manage charitable funds for a qualifying community project or initiative. FCCF can receive and administer funds, provide financial oversight, process payments, and assist with charitable compliance while project leaders focus on carrying out the work.

How can I get involved?

There are many ways to help. You can volunteer with local organizations, support a charitable fund, participate in community projects, attend events, help spread the word about FCCF, or connect us with organizations doing good work in Fayette County.

Can I make a donation in memory of someone?

Yes. FCCF can accept memorial gifts and help families or organizations establish memorial funds that honor a loved one’s legacy while supporting causes that matter to the community.

Can I create a charitable fund?

Yes. FCCF can establish several types of charitable funds, including donor advised funds, designated funds, scholarship funds, organization funds, field-of-interest funds, and other charitable funds approved by the Board.

Are donations tax deductible?

The Fayette County Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Contributions are generally tax deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. Donors should consult their tax advisor regarding their specific situation.

How is FCCF governed?

FCCF is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and operates under adopted policies covering financial stewardship, fund administration, conflicts of interest, confidentiality, fundraising, cybersecurity, and ethical governance.
