OUR MISSION
The Fayette County Community Foundation provides a venue promoting the tradition of local giving allowing donors to contribute to an improved quality of place, community, and health for all residents of Fayette County.
Community Impact
There are big ideas of how to build what we need and great ideas on how to improve what we have. By supporting both, we will be able to make incremental steps to make big change.
Community Projects
No one knows the needs of a community better than those who live and serve there. Local civic organizations offer a lot of support to our residents in a myriad of ways. We aim to support those who serve by offering grants available to other non-profit organizations whose projects fulfill our mission.
Public Fields & Courts
Though there are several sports fields and courts in the county, few are available for general public use. Leagues and teams need to have options and also need support with upkeep, equipment, and facility improvements. Projects will be identified throughout the county for fundraising.
Youth & Adult Programming
There are many facilities throughout the county that already serve their local population. Some of the facilities need additional programming support in the form of equipment, upgrades, and supplies, as well planning and providing potential presenters and speakers with an incentive to come.
Educational Support
Over the next few years, we hope to provide funding for students heading to competitions like Skills USA. We also intend to allow individuals and business to create scholarships for students seeking further education or training.
Disc Golf Courses
Fayette County boasts six different disc golf courses from 9-18 holes. This popular sport makes it easy to participate in low-impact activity while spending time outside. Local players often volunteer time to help with upkeep. Grants will go to help cover maintenance costs and improvements.
Long Range Projects
We have lofty goals that will take some planning, time, and tons of support. As a 501(c)3, we are able to be a fiscal agent for some grants and can also help with fundraisers that other organizations may not be able to sponsor.
The Need
Fayette County, WV sits on the brink of major change. Communities throughout Fayette County are involved in different grant processes to provide the infrastructure and support programs necessary for our impending growth.
The Fayette County Community Foundation wants to help fill in the gaps by creating and maintaining more four season recreation opportunities for residents to enjoy and to help turn around some of the negative statistics of poverty, obesity, and substance abuse that affect our area. Through community surveys, access to these types of year-round facilities is mentioned time and again as a need in our county.
By supporting local non-profit organizations in their goals of strengthening our communities and working with various private landowners and government entities, we believe we can help build a better future for our residents.
